Language Barriers and the Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights

In “Language Barriers”, June discusses her fear of requesting more pay (overtime, and the full amount for being an overnight caretaker) due to being an undocumented worker. Marisa Jahn, executive director of NYC based art studio REV- shares portions of her organizations work to help people like June, and explains that the language barrier only makes approaching a domestic employer more complicated – it’s tough enough for nannies and caretakers that have command of the English language she says.
